This weekend I shot my youth pastor's wife maternity pictures. I absolutely love Tori and her husband! They love the Lord and are just an awesome couple! I can't wait for their baby boy to arrive! We are crossing our fingers for him to look like his daddy, red hair and all! He is going to be a funny one. I can't wait to take pictures of him in the hospital and do his newborns! :) I had a blast shooting this gorgeous mommy!

Finally! The rest(mostly) of the pictures from the wedding I shot with Heather Thorne! I had a blast even if it did rain the whole time. :) Tiffany is just a little JCrew model! LOVE it!

I feel so blessed by the opportunities and comments by brides and photogs (including Heather)! I feel like I just jumped in a pool of awesomeness here lately and I am loving it! Can't wait for another wedding next week!

Ok I just have to say, I LOVED this yellow dress.

Last weekend I shot a gorgeous intimate wedding with Heather Thorne at the Dallas Arboretum. We did the whole thing in the rain and were totally drenched by the end of the ceremony. So worth it though! I am completely in love with her JCrew dress and pretty much loved everything about the way she looked. Seriously, she looks like she just stepped out of a magazine! Ridiculous.

Total Miracle

I did it! Its a miracle, really. This shoot was my first time to actually do a whole session in (gasp.) Manual. Yes I know. Shame on me. But yes, I had been shooting in AV for the longest time. I just couldn't bring myself to shoot in Manual. When I finally did, I felt so. much. better. I think my pictures are already turning out so much better because of it! Total Miracle.

Another first. My first time experimenting with the sun and all its goodness. Not exactly how I would have liked them to turn out but its a start.

Ok I know, longest post of your life. I just love them. Can't help it.

I have been playing with new camera settings lately and have been trying them out in different lighting. I wanted to try some outside so I sweetly talked my dog, peachy (Don't blame me, I didn't name her) into it. She secretly wants to be a model. :) I love this picture! And I even loved it more after I saw I ♥ faces was doing a pet theme. Finally I have something that fits the theme! So here goes....

I was sitting in the Montgomery Plaza parking lot waiting on a friend when I opened my chickfila bag. I was double checking the sandwich to make sure that pickles had not been put on my sandwich when I saw IT. IT, was a little heart shaped chicken breast. I literally screamed in my car I was so excited. I almost died of happiness. I think everyone should get a heart shaped chicken sandwich at least once in their life.

After my "I quit photography" moment the other day, I have felt tons better. I never really expect people to actually read my blog. I really hate to blog and when I do, It's just for me. Yes, I post it on my twitter but really my tweets are just for me. I really wasn't expecting anyone to respond and wasn't looking for anyone to respond. I just needed to vent a bit.

I mostly stay pretty positive about this whole photography thing but after talking to all those photographers on Sunday I was very frustrated. It was totally fine with me if they were not looking for any help or second shooters. I would have been fine with holding their sunglasses while they shoot for crying out loud. I just want to be there. As willing as I was, most of the photogs were not. Within two seconds of me talking they said something like "No. I'm sorry sweetie." in that condescending tone and acting like I am 12 years old playing with my Dad's camera. How do they know I'm not a genius? (Kidding obviously!) But really, how do they know?! So that's what really set me off.

So as bummed as I was, it made me feel tons better after some ridiculous comments from some ridiculous awesome people. Ahem. Jamie Delaine, Jasmine Star (really?! Yes.), and Heather Thorne. It doesn't get much better then that. So duh I feel tons better and totally on cloud 9.

Still on cloud 9. This morning I went with Michelle to meet her December bride since I will be her second shooter (yay!). It went well and then we headed to look around Dallas and Fort Worth and found a gold mine of spots for pictures. We had so much fun! I know we will have a blast shooting a wedding together.

But it's safe to say that I will be staying away from Bridal shows for a while.

Yesterday I went to a Bridal show with a friend who is getting married and her MOH. I am the photog for her wedding(a year from now). I haven't been worried about the wedding at all because I was hoping to second shoot or just watch a photog in action at a wedding. So yesterday I am at this bridal show and thought it might not hurt to ask the photogs there if they were looking for any interns or volunteers for anything. Most of them were talking about paid positions. I explained to them that I didn't care if I was paid. I didn't even care if I was their second shooter. Just bring me along! Let me ask just 3 questions and watch! Most of them shot me down within the first 2 seconds and were very rude. I hate photography snobs.

Yes I can teach myself. I can look at a million photography blogs. Its just not the same as someone being here. I want that glow about my pictures. I want that consistency. I know what I WANT them to look like. I know where I want to be with my pictures. I just don't know how to get there. But of course no photographer wants to help because I might steal their business. Please.....I am FAR from stealing someones business. I guess this is where oodles of patience comes in.

So before I went to the bridal show, I liked these pictures. I still do, just not as much. Just having that Jasmine Star "I quit photography" moment.

So the youth pastor and his wife (I'm not in their class anymore. sniff. I hate being a "single" or "college & career") are preggo and today they found out if they were having a boy or a girl. I had this little feeling that it was going to be a boy(no lie). Guess what? It was a boy. Am I amazing or what? Ha! Anyway, so me and 3 friends went to go decorate their house without her knowing after getting a text from her hubby. I think we did a pretty stinkin good job, if I do say so myself. I even got blue light bulbs! Blue light bulbs!! Check out the cuteness..

I had a fabulous day with Madison, as I always do. We went shopping for a bit, bought the cutest shirt ever, grabbed a pretzel at Auntie Anne's (pure heaven), made a retarded video with her little sisters, played around with the web cam goodness(above), and had a mini shoot. Great day.

Could I have a better roommate??!! I think not. Mere had a cute little place picked out for us to take a few early morning shots with her new sunglasses so of course I had to be there! My 50mm is still dead but I still had pictures planned with an adorable little girl and my best friend who takes care of her. She was thrilled when I brought over the Tutu. I am surprised she didn't fall over dizzy from twirling everywhere. :) The pictures aren't really as good as I wanted since I was shooting with my dumb kit lens. I have a deep hate for my kit lens but oh well. You do what you can.

Today I borrowed the cutest tutu in the world from a photographer friend.

My cat, Hershey(love her dearly, just not at the moment), decided she must have a look up on the table where the tutu, my purse, and camera were.

My camera was sitting on top of my purse when Hershey managed to knock it off.

My 50mm fell into two pieces and went flying across the room.

I cried. Stupid cat.

We now have a love-hate relationship.

I called the camera stores in my area. None of them had it.

So now I will wait for a whole week to get a new one.

I was suppose to have the cutest pictures ever this Thursday with that tutu.

I am loving my cat let me tell ya.

So, to make myself feel better, I will post a picture that I love a whole stinkin bunch.

Crazy, Sweet, Now 5 Yr Old, Nutmeg

My friend has been taking care of little Megan (we call her nutmeg) since she was a few months old. I haven't seen her since last summer. Now she is 5!! SO much bigger! She uses "bigger" words now too. Like the word "interesting". It comes out more like "inter-es-ah-ting-uh". ha! I hung out with her for about an hour and caught her cute little faces that she makes. :) Can a 5 yr old be any cuter?? I think not.

Almost my first

I had so much fun taking pictures with Meredith. Even if we did ALMOST get a ticket from the sheriff that stopped us. We were OUTSIDE of a gate that leads into this pasture by my house when a sheriff happened to pass us. He turned around and pulled behind my car. I didn't think we were trespassing and I also didn't think I would get stopped since there are NEVER any cops out there. I have never been stopped or gotten a ticket for anything. It figures I would get my first ticket for photography. Ugh. :D So he did the whole can I see your ID thing and was in his car forever and ever. He finally got out of the car with my ID and a notepad! Notepad normally equals a ticket. Not so this time. No ticket thank goodness! I was so glad to get out of there and so was Meredith. Even though its not trespassing, I don't think I will ever go back to that spot. Ha!

This weekend I took senior pictures for my lovely friend Misty. She is so crazy gorgeous inside and out.

I couldn't get her to smile and act her normal self except when we were talking about her boyfriend. Her first and middle name is Misty Dawn. Her bf last name is Vaughn. She thinks they sound SO cute together and sounds famous. :)

So the only way I got her to smile or laugh is to call her Misty Dawn Vaughn. Whatever floats your boat I guess. ha.

New photography blog!

I am so excited about this new photography blog! Now I can actually give "clients" (I hate using that word) a place to look! And record my journey in photography.

Where is my website you ask? Oh, its umm...oh it doesn't exist(for now anyway). It will be here soon. Soon meaning...give me a year.
